'KERMIE' THE SWIMMER PUPPY  9/27/2010 -- ADOPTED!!!!

Almost Home has a special new foster puppy.  His name is "Kermie" and he came from Town of Hempstead Shelter. He is a "swimmer puppy." Why is he called that? Well, his back legs are turned out and he doesn't have much strength in them to walk.

Kermie

We believe he will get better doing Physical Therapy / Water Therapy. He's about 6 weeks old and is an adorable little pitbull. Kermie gets around well by scooting around, but we are working with him, and hopefully he will get better.  He's adorable with his very big overbite and pretty blue set apart eyes. You can't help but laugh at him because he looks like a little shark swimming on the floor trying to go after other bigger dogs many times his size!!

Kermie - So Cute!

Kermie really thinks he's a tough little guy and this attitude is sure to help with therapy LOL!  Almost Home loves working with special needs pups because they have so much love to give. Please consider donating to help out with Kermie and all of our other animals we have rescued.

DOGS RESCUED FROM AWFUL HOARDING SITUATION ON LONG ISLAND  9/2/2010

Over 120 dogs were rescued from a home up in West Hills - Huntington Area of Long Island. Almost Home's vet tech team was there along with local authorities and fire dept personnel as well as other rescue groups such as the ASPCA. Soon we will post a first hand account of this story from one of our vet techs talking about how it was during the gathering of all those small breed dogs in order to get them out of the urine and feces covered home. Until then - please read the details on Newsday's website.

A few of these dogs are in Almost Home's foster care program and are just about ready for adoption. Can you imagine this little pup below living in such an awful situation? George happens to be rescue #113. This is a time where we at Almost Home are glad we do what we do!
