Training Wheels
TRAINING WHEELS® is a non judgemental community outreach program that brings the shelter into the community to try and prevent animals from being surrendered to already overcrowded animal shelters. We mostly focus in economically challenged areas providing pet education, medical assistance, free spay/neuter with transportation, proper shelter, tie outs and food assistance. Many of our families have outside dogs—mostly pitbulls. We provide education to provide these dogs with better qualities of life.

Volunteers of Almost Home visit approximately 130 houses monthly, with daily visits for spay/neuter transports. We have approximately 15 volunteers assisting us every month. Does this sound like something you would like to do? Why not join Almost Home and volunteer with us today! To learn more about Training Wheels®, click here. On this website Sue Sternberg explains in detail how her model outreach program Training Wheels® came about. Read her article here or also on her site.
